Learn American English With Movies
Speak Real American English.
Feel Included!
International students—boost your confidence with American English. Understand slang, fast talk, swearing, and idioms so you feel included at work, school, and fun.
Why students love lessons with Nancy
Real conversational phrases Americans actually use (idioms, slang, humor)
Confidence with fast, casual talk — know when swearing is joking vs serious
Friendly, patient practice that feels natural, not textbook
Culture notes so you understand the why behind the words
“Nancy is an amazing teacher. I felt more confident speaking after just a few lessons.” — Former student from Japan
“I understand confusing American phrases because Nancy is good to teach this with movies. Here in U.S. with husband working. Nancy showed me how to say American phrases with neighbors.” — Akiko M.
The Movie Method: learn from scenes you’ll remember
Learn English the way people really speak — using short, fun movie/TV scenes. You’ll absorb context, rhythm, humor, and feeling.
How it works (one scene, 15–20 minutes)
- Watch once (no subtitles). What’s happening? Who wants what?
- Watch with subtitles. Pause to catch key phrases and tone.
- Collect expressions. Idioms, slang, phrasal verbs, emotional phrases.
- Shadow the actors. Copy sounds and intonation line by line.
- Role-play together. Switch roles; try alternatives; add your ideas.
- Culture notes. What’s funny? Polite? Sarcastic? When to use it?
Examples from your first lesson:
• The Family Man (2000)
• Iron Man (2008)
- Short scenes with everyday American talk (family, work, humor).
- Clear emotions, easy rhythm and tone to copy.
- Great for idioms like “cut to the chase,” “give me a break,” etc.
What you’ll gain
Natural conversation: small talk to deeper topics
Listening power: fast talk, overlaps, fillers
Cultural confidence: jokes, sarcasm, polite vs blunt
